2nd Vice Chairperson

Steven Koh

Ten years after Steven began his journey in car dealership in 1986, he established his first company, Fu-Ee Cars, which deals in new and second- hand vehicles and hire purchase and insurance services. Having established Fu-Ee Cars on Joo Chiat Road for over 30 years, Steven has witnessed the transformation of the Katong-Joo Chiat precinct from a dilapidated to gentrified neighbourhood filled with cafes and retail outlets. He has been actively involved in mobilising the community to support grassroots events and would like to extend the same support to the Katong-Joo Chiat Business Association (KJCBA).

Member

Fred Puah

Fred has lived on Singapore's east coast all his life; at first in Loyang and then in Katong. In 2013, he established British Hainan restaurant near Joo Chiat Road having been inspired by his father who had worked as a chief cook on British ships before Singapore's independence. From him, Fred learned how to make Hainanese-English cuisine such as oxtail stew, fish and chips, Hainanese curry rice, and pork chops which have become signature dishes at his restaurant. The restaurant also displays vintage paraphernalia from the post-war period right up to the 1980s, making it a cosy watering hole for the young and old to bond over a meal.

Vincent Choon

Helmed by Madam Tay Lee Tiong, Ah Yee's Soon Kueh began in Dunman Hawker Centre in 2004. When she retired after eight long good years, she thought the business would end there, but thanks to her son Jeffrey Goh, Ah Yee’s Soon Kueh was revived with a shop on Tembeling Road. Having lived in the Katong-Joo Chiat precinct for more than 30 years, Jeffrey, Madam Tay and Vincent, who is Jeffery's father-in-law, would like to continue to contribute to the vibrant heritage food scene for future generations with their traditionally handmade Teochew kueh.
