Katong-Joo Chiat Business Association
The Katong Joo Chiat Business Association (KJCBA) strives to champion and support the interests and welfare of business owners in the Katong and Joo Chiat area. As well as fostering goodwill among business owners, KJCBA hopes to nurture a vibrant community through activities designed to raise the profile of, and attract visitors to Katong and Joo Chiat. The KJCBA also aims to be the interface between community leaders and business owners and residents so we can work together in ways that benefit the larger community.

Known in his day as 'King of Katong', Chew Joo Chiat was a wealthy landowner and philanthropist of Peranakan descent who bought and developed large plots of land in Katong in the early 1900s. Joo Chiat Road was named after him.

The Katong-Joo Chiat area has become a microcosm of Singapore's multicultural society for more than 100 years. Today, modern retail and F&B outlets, and tech and creative services agencies flourish alongside heritage family businesses and the preservation of pre-war shop houses.
